Individual
membership is $20 per year or $30 for a member and their spouse.
If joining after October 1, the membership fee includes the following
year.
Members meet
weekly to carve and socialize. The room is filled with carvers
of all ages and abilities utilizing a variety of techniques to
create many different kinds of carvings. One may also walk around
the room to get ideas for their own new projects, discover different
ways of carving, receive help on their current project or just
marvel at the rainbow of art going on around them.
For members
who have never carved before or have little carving experience
the club offers beginners classes. These classes supply the member
with the tools, wood, and instructors to get them started in a
great hobby. The course of instruction is once a week from 8 a.m.
to 11 p.m. for approximately 12 consecutive weeks. The class begins
with a course in what tools are needed, how to care and sharpen
your tools, and when and how each tool is used. Following this
introduction the student will be taken step-by-step through various
carving projects that are designed to gradually develop ones carving
abilities. The class ends with a lesson on how to finish your
carvings for presentation.
Intermediate
and Advanced classes are offered throughout the year for
members who are experienced but wish to expand their talents.
These lessons may be from one to three days in length and are
taught by some of our extremely talented members or even nationally
recognized carving professionals from outside our community.
